Have You Heard of Kerri Pomarolli?

So, have you heard of Kerri Pomarolli? Here’s three reasons why you need to know her:

  1. She loves Jesus and will encourage you to do the same.
  2. She is HILARIOUS and we all need to laugh a little bit more.
  3. She’s relatable. Whether she is talking about being a mom, a Christian woman, or an adult in a dance class, you will find yourself say, “Me too, girl!”

Finding Kerri Pomarolli

So, I have to admit, I am not really into comedians normally, but I am into books. Back in 2006 (that’s so long ago) I picked up a random book in a local Christian book store about being single. The original title of the book was funny and it was by a Christian comedian, so I figured it would at least be good for a laugh.

But, let’s just say I felt like she got me. She wrote true and humorous things about being a Christian that I had thought, yet never would articulate for fear of being considered sacrilegious. But she was so much funnier than I could ever dream of being, so she could say whatever she wanted. I started casually following her online, in a 2006 kinda way.

Now, 13 years later and I still enjoy Kerri’s clean, relatable humor. I saw her live last night for the first time and, yes!, she was just like reading her books. She’s so authentic. I even got to meet her and chat for a few minutes after the show. Kerri knows how to makes you feel like a friend instantly.

She was a fan of my youngest, Selah.

Kerri Pomarolli Today

Since Kerri’s first book, she’s become a mama and is relatable in a whole new way to where I am now, too. I am Facebook friends with Kerri and I love watching the videos she posts of her two precious girls. Precious, yes, but they also have sass and style!

Kerri also has some amazing comedic, acting, and writing stats including work with Hallmark Channel, a few soaps, and close to 30 appearances on the Tonight Show. If she is ever near you, go and see her! She was created to inspire, relate, and entertain.

Kerri Pomarolli’s Kids

If you spend any amount of time following Kerri you will come to feel like you know her daughters, Lucy and Ruby. You will be better for it, too. Their faith is inspirational. These girls are on fire for Jesus and prayer warriors. Through many ups and downs, Kerri has definitely modeled faith in a fun and authentic way that has made it real for her girls.

Kerri shares a powerful testimony of God’s healing in Ruby’s life in one chapter of her new book. If you don’t believe in miracles, this little girl and her may just change your mind. Kerri’s faith and Ruby’s healing is a beautiful story that God continues to write and Kerri continues to share with audiences.

New Books by Kerri Pomarolli

I am currently reading her about-to-be-released book, Confessions of a Proverbs 32 Woman: How I Went from Messed Up to Blessed Up Without Changing a Single Thing. Along with that, I’m reading it’s companion devotional, She Rises Late and Her Kids Make Her Breakfast: Devotions for the Proverbs 32 Woman. It only took a few pages before I was hooked. Within the first few chapters I had laughed out loud and cried.

Yesterday before heading to her show (an hour and a half away–and totally worth it!), I finished reading chapter 11. It’s entitled “The Grass is Always Greener, Even When It’s Fake”. In this chapter she beautifully describes the highs and lows of ONE NIGHT following God’s calling for her life. She reflects on how it is so easy to go from feeling like you were made to do such and such to everyone else is so much more successful at this than I am. I’ve so been there. This week even!

That’s just one example of the many stories in Confessions of a Proverbs 32 Woman that makes me feel a little bit better about not having it all together. Kerri Pomarolli wants women to know that we don’t have to have it all together to be loved by God. We don’t even need to have it all together to love God well.

What’s a Proverbs 32 Woman?

If you have ever felt intimidated by the Proverbs 31 woman and feel the expectations are just too high? You are who Kerri wrote this book for. Here’s what she has to say in her intro:

Accepting that you are a Proverbs 32 Woman is the gift of being convinced that God is crazy about you. He completely understands you, loves you without complaint, passionately chases after you, and will never leave or forsake your hot-mess self for anything or anyone. You’re loved. Safe. Accepted. Breathe deeply and smile. Get out that Nutella and eat some carbs! God created them. You can rest in the joy of being a Proverbs 32 Woman.

Am I a Proverbs 32 Girl?

As an enneagram type 1 perfectionist, I can’t say that I want to completely embrace being a #hotmess4Jesus all the time. I did pass the test in the beginning of the book, but honestly, I’m more of a Proverbs 31.5 kinda girl. I like occasionally decorating a Pinterest worthy cake for my kids’ birthday, but I sometimes first buy the cake at Costco. I’d prefer to send in plates and napkins for a class party than to make anything, but I want to chaperone all the field trips.

I know I don’t have it all together. My girls’ have messy hair 95% of the time, my littles have lots of pajama days because I don’t to get them all dressed to stay at home, and I have my hair in a bun EVERY SINGLE DAY! I screw up, I lose my temper, and I sometimes have to break commitments. But, I know I love my family to the best of my ability and I try to point them to Jesus.

Through Kerri’s new books and comedy, I am able to laugh at myself a little more when I fail and know that I am not alone in my love of the Dollar Tree (though I don’t think I’ll ever be able to buy meat there, sorry Kerri!). I can learn to embrace it when things don’t go as planned, and know that even when I am striving for more, I am not earning God’s love because He already loves me more than I can imagine.
